| Greater New York Hospital
Association is a trade association representing more than 250
not-for-profit hospitals and continuing care facilities, both
voluntary and public, in the metropolitan area and throughout
the State, as well as in New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode
Island. GNYHA's mission is to act as the principal advocate
for its members in improving the access to, as well as the quality
and cost of, health care in the metropolitan area, and to foster
an appropriate environment for managing health care resources.
GNYHA accomplishes its goals through policy analysis and development,
advocacy, communication, education, research, and business services.

Policy Analysis and Development
GNYHA analyzes and develops policy on emerging health care
issues, particularly in the areas of economics and finance,
governance, human resources, organization and management,
planning and resource development, and utilization.

Advocacy
GNYHA advocates the perspectives and concerns of its members
with local, State, and Federal elected officials, policymakers,
and the public. |
Communications
GNYHA maintains regular communication with member institutions,
policymakers, and others concerned with health care issues confronting
New York's provider community, both directly and through the
media. |
Education
GNYHA provides educational opportunities for member institutions
and related parties on issues concerning the health care community.

Research
Through its affiliate, Greater New York Hospital Foundation,
Inc., GNYHA seeks to answer important questions facing member
institutions by undertaking or facilitating research and special
studies. |
Business Services
GNYHA's for-profit subsidiary businesses offer a wide range
of services—such as group purchasing—for hospitals,
long term care facilities, physician groups, and other types
of health care providers throughout the country, helping them
maintain efficient and high-quality operations. |
